Why Spixes
Not like the big platforms.
Traditional job boards and OTAs treat you like one listing among thousands. Spixes starts elsewhere: a tool that grows your community, not just fills your beds.
01
Booking + volunteering together
One platform for paid stays and work-exchange. No more juggling 3 tools, no duplicate calendars, no applications buried in your inbox.
02
A real community, not a listings site
Your future guests post photos, create events, talk to each other — before they even book. They choose your hostel because they see a place, not a profile.
03
A commission that rewards you
The more you bring your Spixes community to life, the less you pay. A real incentive, not a marketing trick. Full grid available in your dashboard after signup.
04
Zero fees, zero commitment
Free signup, no monthly subscription, no 12-month contract. Test it without risk, and cancel in one click if it's not for you.
The community
Not just applicants.
A community that comes to you.
Backpackers on Spixes don't browse job boards. They're part of a social platform — attending events, joining group chats, sharing photos, meeting the other travelers already at each hostel.
When your hostel is live, it reaches people who are already on the road or planning their next leg. Baristas, community managers, surf instructors, multilingual receptionists. People who chose this lifestyle intentionally.
That's the difference. You're not getting anonymous bookings or cold applications. You're welcoming someone from a community they already belong to.
The profiles
Every signup is a different story.
A glimpse of who's already on Spixes — and who could knock on your door tomorrow.
Across Spixes
From graphic designers to surf instructors, from baristas to polyglots — travelers who already chose this lifestyle.

What you do here
Not an admin panel. A place where your hostel breathes.
You post moments like a guest, create events like an organizer, list jobs like an employer. And you receive bookings like a hotelier.
Post moments
A photo of your kitchen, the sunset, your guests jamming. Travelers see a place that's alive.
Create events
Full moon, beach BBQ, morning yoga. Guests RSVP, and their friends see it too.
List volunteering
Free help in exchange for a bed. Spixes matches you with backpackers who fit your needs.
Community chat
A Spixes thread per hostel: your guests talk to each other. You moderate, push your events.
How it works
Three steps. Five minutes to get started.
Free, in 5 minutes. No card required, no commitment. Test it without risk.
Publish
Your rooms, your events, your moments, your volunteer listings. A few clicks and your hostel becomes a place, not a profile page.
Receive
Backpackers discover your place on the feed, book in one tap, show up. You focus on what matters: welcoming them.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to pay?
Signing up, listings, events, posts and volunteer matching are 100% free — no subscription, no per-volunteer fees, no hidden charges. The optional Booking module (paid overnight stays via Stripe Connect) applies a commission that decreases the more you bring your Spixes community to life. The exact grid is visible in your dashboard after signup.
How do I lower my booking commission?
By keeping your Spixes community alive: post events and moments, keep a volunteer listing active, refer a hostel that signs up with your code, or receive bookings through your referral code. Each criterion met in a month moves you to the reduced rate the following month — automatically.
Can I manage multiple properties?
Yes. Switch between establishments from a single dashboard. Each property gets its own gallery, listings, and application inbox.
How do I screen candidates?
Every backpacker has a full profile with their bio, skills, languages, travel history, and reviews from previous hostels. You can also chat with them directly before accepting.
What kind of volunteers will I find?
Backpackers from 30+ countries with diverse skills — reception, kitchen, social media, event hosting, languages, design, music, and more. These are engaged travelers, not tourists passing through.
