How much does Spixes cost?
Spixes is free for backpackers to sign up and use. Hostels list volunteer positions for free too, no platform fee, no commission on swap nights. A Premium tier (€9.99/month) unlocks unlimited applications to volunteer positions; the rest of the app stays free.
How many hours do I need to volunteer per day?
Most hostels ask for 3 to 5 hours per day, 5 to 6 days a week. The exact schedule is shown on each listing along with the role, the perks, and the minimum stay.
What kind of work will I do?
Reception, bar, kitchen, events, cleaning, social media, photography, surf school, yoga, repairs, each listing specifies what the hostel needs. You pick what fits your skills and the country you want to travel to.
Do I need a work visa?
Volunteer work-exchange is typically not considered paid employment, but visa rules vary by country. Check the destination country's rules before you book. Most short-stay volunteers travel on regular tourist visas.
