Spixes didn't start as a project. It started on the road.
We're three childhood friends who grew up together and eventually took the same direction —
not the shortest one, but the one that keeps moving.
Travel, volunteering, hostels, temporary places, short encounters that sometimes last longer than expected.
For years, movement shaped our lives. Not as a break from reality, but as a way to understand it.
When travel became a way of life
Travel didn't arrive all at once. It grew over time.
Different journeys, different rhythms — but the same feeling kept coming back.
Working in hostels. Volunteering. Moving from place to place. Meeting people from everywhere.
And everywhere we went, the same gaps appeared.
- Opportunities were scattered
- Conversations stayed temporary
- Connections rarely lasted beyond the stay
Travel was rich — but disconnected.
The moment it clicked
At some point, the question became impossible to ignore:
Why is there no real place built for backpackers to connect, contribute, and stay connected?
Because we had lived the problems ourselves:
- Volunteering opportunities spread across platforms
- Messages that never get answered
- Little transparency
- No way to connect before arriving
And we saw hostels struggling too.
That's when the idea behind Spixes became clear.
Spixes: more than a platform
Spixes was built around a simple belief:
Travel is about people — not places.
The idea behind Spixes was to create a space where:
✨
Volunteering feels accessible and transparent
🌍
Travelers can connect before, during, and after their journey
💬
Hostels and travelers actually talk to each other
📖
Stories don't stop when the stay ends
Not another travel tool. A living network.
Why us?
Not because of who we are. But because of what we've lived.
We're backpackers. Travelers. Former hostel volunteers.
We didn't imagine the problems — we experienced them.
Spixes exists to fix what felt broken on the road.
Our mission
To create connections, opportunities, and stories
that last longer than the journey itself.
The team
Spixes is built by three co-founders with different backgrounds,
complementary skills, and one shared vision:
To make travel more human, more connected, and more meaningful.
